NHL: Tampa Bay Lightning at Vegas Golden Knights Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports

The Golden Knights will take on the Tampa Bay Lightning at T-Mobile Arena this afternoon in celebration of Nevada Day.

Vegas is coming off a disappointing shootout loss to Vancouver but will look to get back on track against a much more difficult opponent. The Lightning have gone 5-0-1 in their last six games and have been getting excellent goaltending from Andrei Vasilevskiy, who recorded a 22-save shutout against the Avalanche the other night.

Vegas enters today’s matchup with points in four straight games, though Tampa is riding a similar six-game streak. The Lightning have the best penalty kill in the NHL, operating at a whopping 97 percent. Tampa Bay has given up just one power-play goal all season.

In one of the most thrilling games of the inaugural season, Shea Theodore notched four points, including the game-winning goal with 2.3 seconds left in the game, the last time these teams met in this building. Vegas won both matchups against the Lightning last season, but that could be a more difficult feat in 2018-19 as Tampa Bay is 6-1-1 through eight games.

Deryk Engelland will return the lineup after missing the last three games. Ryan Carpenter and Oscar Lindberg will replace Tomas Nosek and Tomas Hyka on the third line.

Here are the projected lineups for both teams:
