The Golden Knights (17-14-1) kick off a four-game road trip in Brooklyn against the New York Islanders (14-11-4), who find themselves in third place in the Metropolitan Division under new bench boss Barry Trotz.
Vegas is coming off a 4-2 win against Dallas but has lost each of its last two road games. The Islanders were one of just two teams to go undefeated against Vegas in its inaugural campaign, so the Golden Knights will look for their first franchise win against the Isles tonight.
The big news ahead of tonight’s game is the potential return of Paul Stastny, who was a full participant in yesterday’s practice, skating with the third line. Regardless of whether Stastny suits up in his fourth game as a Knight tonight, it appears Gerard Gallant will keep the second line intact, with Cody Eakin retaining his second-line center duties.
Marc-Andre Fleury will make his 11th straight start with an all-time record of 26-11-6 against the Islanders.
For the Isles, the controversial Joshua Ho-Sang was recalled from the AHL Sunday and could get his first NHL game action of the season tonight. Ho-Sang skated with Valtteri Filppula and Ross Johnston on the team’s third line, with Tom Khunhackl and Leo Komarov listed as day-to-day.
Josh Bailey, Mathew Barzal and Anders Lee lead the Islanders in points with 24, 23 and 22 points, respectively.
UPDATE: Stastny will NOT play tonight.
