Penguins honor Marc-Andre Fleury with video tribute

New, comment

Flower is playing in his first game in Pittsburgh since being taken by the Golden Knights in the expansion draft. The only other franchise he’s played for honored him greatly.

During the first TV timeout during the Vegas Golden Knights' game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, their first game in Pittsburgh, the home team delivered an emotional video to Knights goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury.

Fleury was the first overall pick in the 2003 NHL entry draft, selected by the Penguins. He played 13 seasons and 691 games, winning 375 games. He was also a pivotal part in Pittsburgh winning three Stanley Cups.

Fleury was selected by the Golden Knights in the NHL Expansion Draft this past summer. That move was an emotional one for the Pittsburgh organization and its fans. It was also an emotional moment for Fleury, who had spent his career with just one team. The Golden Knights are surely fortunate to have Flower in net, and he’s a main reason why Vegas sits atop the Western Conference standings.

Is it OK to cry now? Good.
