The Vegas Golden Knights look to avenge their loss in Calgary against the Dallas Stars tonight in American Airlines Center.
Coming off the end of a back-to-back road loss to Flames, the Golden Knights are still looking to solidify their playoff spot in the Pacific Division. The Stars are on the second of a back-to-back themselves, yet are the victors of a 4-1 win against the Minnesota Wild.
There is a lot of pressure on Dallas right now, as they are in the midst of a tight race within their own division with St. Louis, Minnesota and Colorado, respectively, within only five points of getting into the playoffs.
The Golden Knights have a little bit of a cushion, yet the recently hot Arizona Coyotes are providing a bit of drama in the playoff race. If the Knights cannot keep a tight hold on the third slot in the division, things could get weird.
Rebounding from Sunday
The Golden Knights are coming off a decent break, having played their last game on Sunday against Calgary. There has been plenty of time to recover and prepare for a team coming off a game from the previous night. Yet, be forewarned — Dallas has more at stake at this current time. They will be expected to play a more desperate game due to the logjam in the Western Conference Wild Card race. Goaltender Ben Bishop just passed Ed Belfour for the longest shutout streak in franchise history but he is dealing with an injury. Expect backup Anton Khudobn to man the crease for this game.
Can Mark Stone continue to produce for Vegas?
After going five games without scoring since being acquired by the Golden Knights, Mark Stone tallied his first pair of goals with the Golden Knights last weekend. The highly touted winger is seeming to fit in well with Vegas, and will look to continue his production with his new team. There is sure to be a slow gel in regards to the chemistry of the team, yet Stone is looking to fit in well with the grey and gold.
