The Vegas Golden Knights opened a quick two-game road trip with a 5-2 loss against the St. Louis Blues on Monday.

Vegas got out to a hot start in the first period as they got out to a two-goal lead in the first ten minutes, but the Blues countered with three goals in 2:15.

The Knights power play was 0-for-3 on the game and Robin Lehner didn’t play his best game of the season but kept the Knights in the game late in the game.

Chandler Stephenson opened the scoring only 36 seconds into the game on a rebound from a point-shot from Alex Pietrangelo.

Reilly Smith made the Vegas lead 2-0 with a neat move to beat Jordan Binnington after a great stretch pass from Ben Hutton.

Ryan O’Reilly, Tyler Bozak, and Justin Faulk scored the Blues three goals of the period.

The Blues played an excellent second period as they had a 60% corsi share in the period and got a goal from Brandon Saad on the power play.

The Knights played a much better third but were not able to pot one passed Binnington.

Niko Mikkola added his first goal of the season midway through the third which made it 5-2 St. Louis.

The Knights will take on the Nashville Predators on Wednesday before returning to Vegas on Saturday.
