2022 NHL Draft: Golden Knights draft scorer Patrick Guay in fifth round (No. 145)

The Vegas Golden Knights added some scoring punch with their fifth-round selection in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, drafting center Patrick Guay with pick No. 145.

Guay was electric this past season, scoring 55 goals and 104 points in 68 games with the Charlottetown Islanders of the QMJHL. He ranked second in the league in goals and fifth in points, producing at a 1.53 points-per-game pace. Guay potted 18 goals on the power play.

He then exploded for a league-high 13 goals and 28 points in 15 playoff games.

Despite his offensive prowess, Guay lacks elite speed and is on the smaller side as a 5-foot-9, 179-pound center. However, his vision and ability to find the back of the net make him an intriguing choice at No. 145.

Guay was a teammate of Golden Knights prospects Lukas Cormier and Jakub Brabene but will play the 2022-23 season with the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada after he was traded for five draft picks.
