Let’s go over some news and notes:

- Doesn’t sound like the Golden Knights will be trading for a goalie after all. They’re apparently preparing to enter the season with Logan Thompson and Laurent Brossoit as their netminders. [ESPN]

- After a few tough years in Arizona, Phil Kessel is “motivated” to return to the playoffs with the Golden Knights. [Sportsnet]

In other news...

- Veteran forward Eric Staal signed a PTO with the Panthers evidently, and he’s just excited for the opportunity. [NHL]

- The Sabres have the best prospect pipeline in the NHL, and looking at some of their youngsters, it’s easy to see why. [The Athletic]

- Nothing better than a perfectly executed Kucherov deke.
