2024 NHL Winter Classic: Seattle Kraken to Host Vegas Golden Knights at T-Mobile Park

Today all eyes are on the Boston Bruins and Pittsburgh Penguins for the 2023 Winter Classic being held at Fenway Park, and a year from now attention will shift to the NHL’s most recent expansion franchises the Vegas Golden Knights and Seattle Kraken.

On January 1, 2024, the Golden Knights will head outside for a matchup against the Kraken at T-Mobile Park, the home of MLB’s Seattle Mariners. This will be Vegas’ 2nd appearance in an outdoor game, their 1st took place at Lake Tahoe during the 2021 NHL Outdoor Games against the Colorado Avalanche, and this game will be both franchises Winter Classic debut.

This is exciting news for the Golden Knights, and a matchup against the Kraken in a marquee event such as the Winter Classic should only add to the budding rivalry between the two squads.

Per the NHL:

T-Mobile Park has a retractable roof, which will allow the NHL to build the rink and set the stage on the field along with décor everywhere in the facility in all weather conditions. The goal will be to play the game with the roof open.

The ballpark has a capacity of 47,929 and has been open since July 15, 1999.

Also included in the report is that this will be the 8th baseball stadium to host a Winter Classic with the other venues including Wrigley Field, Citizens Bank Park, Nationals Park, Busch Stadium, Citi Field, Target Field, and Fenway Park which played host to the 2010 and 2023 Winter Classic.
