Dylan Ferguson, Lucus Elvenes released from Golden Knights training camp

The Vegas Golden Knights announced Wednesday that they released two players from training camp. Goaltender Dylan Ferguson was sent down to the WHL’s Kaloomps Blazers, and forward Lucas Elvenes will rejoin Rögle BK in the Swedish Hockey League.

Ferguson, 19, was selected 194th overall by the Dallas Stars in the 2017 Entry Draft, then quickly traded to the Golden Knights. He was called up for one NHL game in the 2017–18 season, filling in for Maxime Lagace at the height of Vegas’ goaltender injury woes. He made 25 saves and allowed two goals in Sunday’s preseason opener against the Arizona Coyotes.

Vegas drafted Elvenes, 19, in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft at 127th overall. He skated in Tuesday night’s preseason game against the Colorado Avalanche but did not net any points.

Training camp for Vegas continues with several of the team’s top prospects battling it out for a regular season roster spot. With Ferguson out of the mix, the fight for that backup goaltending spot behind Marc-Andre Fleury will be especially interesting. Training camp wraps up Sept. 30.
