Center Jack Eichel set a Vegas Golden Knights franchise record for the most points in a single season with 79 after tallying a power-play assist on Nicolas Roy’s first-period goal against the Columbus Blue Jackets Thursday night at Nationwide Arena.
The previous record (78) was set by William Karlsson in the inaugural campaign when he scored 43 goals and added 35 assists for 78 points.
Eichel is just the third player in Vegas history to top 70 points, joining Karlsson and Jonathan Marchessault, who finished second on the team in 2017-18 with 75 points.
Eichel is in the midst of the best statistical season of his career and has already set multiple personal bests, including assists (59) and power-play points (30). His 59 assists also set a franchise record for most assists in a single season, topping David Perron’s previous high of 50 from 2017-18.
Eichel is now three points away from setting a career high in points after recording 82 in 77 games in 2018-19.
Eichel has always had elite skill, but he has evolved into a true 200-foot force since joining the Golden Knights. In parts of four seasons with Vegas, Eichel has scored 92 goals and 238 points in 228 games, which leads all Vegas skaters in that span.
Eichel played a key role in the Golden Knights’ Stanley Cup run in 2023, scoring six goals and 26 points in 22 games. He finished last year’s first-round series against Dallas with three goals and seven points in seven games.
The Massachusetts native has 231 goals and 593 points in 602 career games with the Golden Knights and Sabres. Eichel was originally drafted second overall by Buffalo in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. Vegas acquired him in a multi-player deal on Nov. 4, 2021.
