Five Years Ago Today Oscar Dansk Made Vegas Golden Knights History

The Vegas Golden Knights last played on Tuesday, and they remain off until tomorrow vs. the Anaheim Ducks so I thought it would be nice to take a look back at when Oscar Dansk, a goalie who had a short lived stint on the team, made some history.

On this date in 2017, Dansk took the ice and recorded the first shutout in Golden Knights history during a 7-0 victory over the Colorado Avalanche. He made 32 saves during the contest, and it just so happened to be his third and final victory of the season.

Dansk stepped in goal on October 21st in the third period for the Golden Knights during a game vs. the St. Louis Blues, and picked up the victory making 10 saves on 11 shots in 13:46. He started the next game vs. the Chicago Blackhawks, and then the subsequent game vs. Colorado.

It was because of this stretch that he was named the NHL’s second player of the week, and it looked like Dansk was on the verge of doing something special.

Unfortunately that didn’t come to be, as Dansk started again vs. the New York Islanders on October 30, but was injured during the game. By the time Dansk was healthy there was no place for him on the roster, and he was assigned to the minors. He would only appear in two additional NHL games, and has since gone to the KHL. Dansk’s NHL career was a short one that might have ended up differently had he not been injured early, but he’ll always be part of Golden Knights history.
