GAME THREAD 24/82: Calgary Flames at Vegas Golden Knights

Well, the other night didn’t exactly go as planned. The Golden Knights gave up five goals in the first period as part of a 7-2 loss in Calgary. But now Vegas has a chance to bounce back and avenge the embarrassing defeat.

The big news ahead of today’s game is that the Golden Knights called up Daniel Carr from the AHL and reassigned Tomas Hyka. It is expected that Carr will take Hyka’s place on the third line, which has struggled throughout the season.

Carr is tied for the lead in AHL scoring with 22 points, and the Knights are hopeful he can provide a much-needed scoring punch to Vegas’ very inconsistent offense.

After getting off to very slow start to the season, Max Pacioretty enters today’s game with goals in three straight contests, including one against the Flames. He will look to extend that streak in what will be Nate Schmidt’s first home game of the season. It will also be the first time James Neal returns to T-Mobile Arena since leaving this summer via free agency.

The Flames (13-8-1) sit first in the Pacific Division with 27 points, while Vegas (10-12-1) remains in sixth place with 21.

Here are the projected lineups for both clubs:
