GAMEDAY THREAD 40/82: Colorado Avalanche at Vegas Golden Knights

The Golden Knights (20-15-4) are coming off back-to-back overtime losses but have still earned at least a point in eight straight home contests.

Colorado (19-12-6) currently sits third in the Central Division and boasts one of the most lethal top lines in the NHL. Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen and Gabriel Landeskog have combined for 158 points, so that’s where Vegas will need to focus its defensive efforts.

There was some confusion over the holiday break regarding the status of Max Pacioretty, though he is back on injured reserve. The Knights recalled Brandon Pirri, who will play tonight. He’ll skate on the second line with Paul Stastny and Alex Tuch, while Reilly Smith will be reunited with William Karlsson and Jonathan Marchessault.

Colin Miller will be out of the lineup once again for Vegas. Update: Pierre-Edouard Bellemare will not play tonight.
