Golden Knights activate Luca Sbisa, place Jon Merrill on IR

It’s official. The Vegas Golden Knights have finally activated defenseman Luca Sbisa (and his mustache) from injured reserve. He is expected to be available for the Golden Knights’ contest against the Chicago Blackhawks Friday night.

Sbisa has missed the Golden Knights’ last nine games with a lower body injury. His absence didn’t have much of a hinderance on Vegas, though, as the Knights went 8-1-0 during that span.

The 27-year-old defenseman hasn’t set the world on fire this season, but he’s proven himself capable of playing important minutes on the penalty kill, which is always a valuable skill to have.

In 23 games, Sbisa has scored one goal and nine helpers on the season.

To make room for Sbisa on the roster, the Golden Knights placed defenseman Jon Merrill on IR with an “undisclosed” injury. Merrill has registered just two points (a goal and an assist) in 14 games this season.
