Golden Knights goalie Malcolm Subban placed on IR, expected to miss 4 weeks

After suffering a lower-body injury against the St. Louis Blues Saturday night, the Vegas Golden Knights have placed goaltender Malcolm Subban on injured reserve, the team announced Sunday. The 23-year-old netminder is expected to be out of commission for about a month.

The timetable for Subban’s return shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. It was reported by Sportsnet’s John Shannon Saturday night that Subban would likely be out for weeks.

With both Subban and Marc-Andre Fleury out of the lineup, the Golden Knights are expected to move forward with Oscar Dansk as the backstop in net. In relief of Subban Saturday night, Dansk stopped 10 of 11 shots and helped the Golden Knights pick up the 3-2 overtime win over the Blues.

Vegas is expected to call up a goalie from the Chicago Wolves Sunday night after their game against the Tucson Roadrunners. That goalie will likely be Maxime Lagace, whom the team recalled last week to sit behind Subban against the Boston Bruins.

In three starts with the Wolves this season, Lagace owns a 4.09 goals against average with a .870 save percentage.
