Golden Knights sign Oscar Lindberg to two-year deal

The Vegas Golden Knights have agreed to terms with restricted free agent Oscar Lindberg on a multi-year contract extension, the team announced Tuesday.

Lindberg’s deal is worth $3.4 million.

The 25-year-old Swedish forward was selected by the Golden Knights during the June 21 expansion draft from the New York Rangers. He played 65 games last season, scoring eight goals and notching 20 points. He added three goals and an assist in 12 games during the playoffs.

Lindberg was drafted in the second round of the 2010 NHL Draft. A smart two-way center, he is a good defensive player that is thought to have more offensive potential he hasn’t tapped into yet. In his 134 career NHL games, Lindberg has tallied 48 points.

The signing gives the Golden Knights added depth down the middle that features Vadim Shipachyov, Jonathan Marchessault, William Karlsson, Cody Eakin, Reid Duke, as well as draft picks Cody Glass and Nick Suzuki.
