Golden Knights put Stone on LTIR, sign Carter Hart to 2-year contract

The Vegas Golden Knights labeled Mark Stone as week-to-week and placed him on long-term injured reserve on Thursday.

The Vegas captain exited last Saturday’s game against Calgary — a 6-1 victory for the Golden Knights — in the third period and did not return; he was put on injured reserve last Monday ahead of Vegas’ 4-1 win over Carolina but has since been moved to LTIR.

Stone will be eligible to return to the lineup Nov. 15 against St. Louis but could miss more time.

Stone scored two goals against the Flames before suffering the injury, which is reportedly a wrist injury. Stone was second in the league in scoring at the time of the injury and currently sits tied for third with 13 points (two goals and a league-high 11 assists).

The Golden Knights also officially inked goaltender Carter Hart to a two-year, $4 million contract, which carries an AAV of $2 million.

The Golden Knights signed Hart to a professional tryout last week with the intention of turning that PTO into a contract.

Hart is currently serving the rest of his NHL-imposed suspension for his involvement in the Hockey Canada scandal; he will not be eligible to play until Dec. 1.

The Golden Knights are currently without starting netminder Adin Hill, who is out week-to-week after suffering an injury in Monday’s 4-1 win over the Hurricanes.

Goaltender Carl Lindblom was recalled from the Henderson Silver Knights earlier this week and is expected to start Sunday against Tampa Bay in the second half of Vegas’ back-to-back in the Sunshine State. Vegas will wrap up its three-game road trip Tuesday in Carolina.

Defenseman Noah Hanifin is now on injured reserve; he has not played since the season opener.
