Golden Knights recall forward Tomas Hyka from Chicago Wolves

In light of the injury to forward Paul Stastny and the subpar performance of Vegas’ third line, the Golden Knights have recalled forward Tomas Hyka from the Chicago Wolves.

Hyka, 25, appeared in 10 games for the Golden Knights last season, registering one goal and three points.

The former sixth-round pick of the Los Angeles Kings is coming off an excellent season with the Wolves in which he tallied 48 points (including 15 goals) in 50 games. He was having yet another strong start this season as well, logging three assists in Chicago’s first two contests.

The Czech forward will be available to play in Thursday night’s game against the Penguins, but who would he replace in the lineup? One candidate is Oscar Lindberg, who has a minus-4 rating and has failed to record a point this season.

Another candidate to be scratched is Ryan Carpenter, though that seems little less realistic. Like Lindberg, Carpenter has yet to record a point this season, but has been earning some time on Vegas’ second power play unit while also playing solid minutes on the penalty kill.

UPDATE: Per Gerard Gallant, Hyka will be taking Lindberg’s place in Vegas’ lineup against the Penguins.
