The Vegas Golden Knights have agreed to terms with goaltender Adin Hill on a six-year contract extension with an AAV of $6.25 million, the club announced Friday morning.
Hill is in the final year of a two-year, $9.8 million contract and was set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season. He will be 35 when the new contract expires in 2031.
The contract includes a modified no-trade clause, starting with a 10-team no-trade list in the first two years of the deal. That becomes an eight-team list in years three and four and then a six-team list in the final two years of the deal, according to PuckPedia.
The 28-year-old is 24-11-4 with a 2.53 goals-against average, .906 save percentage and a career-best four shutouts in 39 games this season, also a career high.
Hill has gone 5-1-0 in his last six starts, posting a 1.68 GAA and .940 save percentage. He is coming off a 27-save shutout against Columbus, marking the first time this season that the Blue Jackets were shut out at home.
Hill backstopped the Golden Knights en route to the franchise’s first Stanley Cup in 2023, taking over the crease for the injured Laurent Brossoit in the second-round series against Edmonton. He finished that postseason run with an 11-4 record along with a 2.17 GAA, .932 save percentage and two shutouts. Hill recorded 13.13 goals saved about expected and became the first goalie in NHL history to win 10 playoff games without playing in the first round.
Vegas acquired the Comox, British Columbia native from San Jose in August 2022 in exchange for a fourth-round pick.
Hill is 59-30-7 with a 2.58 goals-against average, .910 save percentage and six shutouts in three years with the Golden Knights. He is 88-62-12 all-time with a 2.65 goals-against average, a .909 save percentage and 11 shutouts in 175 games with the Coyotes, Sharks and Golden Knights.
This is the fifth extension inked by Vegas this season after re-signing Shea Theodore (seven years, AAV: $7.425 million), Brayden McNabb (three years, AAV: $3.65 million), Brett Howden (five years, AAV: $2.5 million) and Keegan Kolesar (three years, AAV: $2.5 million).
With nine forwards, seven defensemen and one goalie signed, the Golden Knights have roughly $10.5 million in projected cap space for next season. Pending unrestricted free agents include Reilly Smith, Victor Olofsson, Tanner Pearson, Brandon Saad and Ilya Samsonov. Nicolas Hague leads the group of restricted free agents, which also includes Alexander Holtz, Jonas Rondbjerg, Raphael Lavoie and Cole Schwindt.
