Golden Knights sign defenseman Dylan Coghlan to entry-level deal
The youngster has performed well in training camp.
The Vegas Golden Knights have signed 19-year-old defenseman Dylan Coghlan to a three-year entry level contract, the team announced Wednesday.
Coghlan, a native of Duncan, British Columbia, has played for the Tri-City Americans of the WHL since 2014-15 when he was 15 years old. The Golden Knights invited him to partake in developmental camp and, from there, a spot on the training camp roster.
For a team with a large intake of defensemen, Coghlan has been a steady performer for the Golden Knights so far. Coghlan recorded 53 points (15-38--51) last season for Tri-City, and has amassed 82 points through three seasons with the club.
Coghlan is a 6-foot-2, right-shooting defenseman. He won’t be eligible to play for the Chicago Wolves until he turns 20 (next February), so he’ll play at least one more year with Tri-City before possibly making the jump to the AHL.
He’s a skilled offensive defenseman that the Golden Knights have taken a liking to, and based on his play in camp, Coghlan deserves this.
