The Golden Knights have signed goaltender Maxime Lagace to a one-year, two-way contract extension with a cap hit of $650,000.
Lagace, 25, posted a 6-7-1 record in 16 games with the Knights last year, finishing the season with a 3.92 goals-against average and .867 save percentage. He was part of the Knights’ memorable goalie carousel early in the season when Marc-Andre Fleury, Malcolm Subban and Oscar Dansk went down with injuries.
The 6-foot-2, 190-pound netminder posted a 14-5-2 record with a 2.84 goals-against average and .905 save percentage in 23 games with the Chicago Wolves, which is likely where he will start next season. He went 0-1 in two playoff appearances with a 2.74 goals-against average and .886 save percentage.
The Knights also signed free-agent goaltender Zachary Fucale to a one-year, $650,000 contract.
Fucale was selected 36th overall in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft by the Montreal Canadiens. He went 10-7-0 with the Laval Rocket, Montreal’s AHL affiliate, last year, finishing the season with a 3.26 goals-against average and .890 save percentage in 18 games.
Fucale was once considered a promising prospect but has struggled early in his career. The hope is that a change of scenery will help him get things back on track, especially if he is better utilized in the Knights organization.
