Golden Knights trade Marcus Kruger to Hurricanes for draft pick

We hope you didn’t put a down payment on a Marcus Kruger jersey.

The Vegas Golden Knights traded the recently-acquired forward to the Carolina Hurricanes for a 2018 fifth-round pick, the team announced Tuesday.

The Swedish forward was acquired by Vegas on July 2 from the Chicago Blackhawks.

Once the deal was completed Sunday, rumblings surfaced of Kruger being on the move again. Carolina emerged as the front runner Monday afternoon, and the framework for the deal was being finalized that same evening.

So, what does this mean? It means Vegas gets another draft pick. The Golden Knights are becoming the draft pick hoarders of the NHL, securing 27 draft picks through 2020. We can’t confirm if they’re all going to be used in a package for Vegas to trade for Nolan Patrick, but hey, shoot your shot, Golden Knights.

Kruger is set to make $3.08 million for the next two seasons.
