WATCH: Alec Martinez scores first goal with Golden Knights

Hockey is the best unscripted thing in the world.

Alec Martinez got the start in his first Vegas Golden Knights game. He got some time on the penalty kill. He even jumped in on the rush and showed he’s got some solid forechecking.

And for the love of everything holy, he’s got a goal.

Martinez scored his second goal of the season, his first with Vegas, at 18:05 of the first period when he corralled a rebound from Cody Eakin’s shot and beat Andrei Vasilevskiy from the left circle.

There’s something about rebounds to the goalie’s right that resonates with Martinez.

Eakin and Nicolas Roy, who are making one hell of a third line right now, earned the assists on Martinez’s first goal with the Golden Knights. The 32-year-old defenseman, who was traded from the Los Angeles Kings for two second-round picks on Wednesday, scored his 199th point in the NHL with this goal.

Narrative is so dumb but I love it.
