Malcolm Subban placed on IR, Max Lagace recalled

The Vegas Golden Knights will see a switch at goaltender. Malcolm Subban suffered an upper-body injury prior to the game on Feb. 8 against the San Jose Sharks and Max Lagace has been recalled from the Chicago Wolves.

Subban has appeared in 16 games, with an 11-3-1 record. He has a .912 save percentage and a 2.59 goals against average. That dropped recently after a terrific start to the year. Subban has posted four straight games with a save percentage below .900 and has allowed 15 goals in his last four starts.

Lagace was injured in the AHL after posting a 2.43 goals against average and .915 save percentage in 13 games. In Lagace's lone game after the injury, he posted a .880 save percentage and 3.05 goals against average. He's the healthiest goaltender the Knights have in the AHL, with Oscar Dansk recovering from an injury of his own.

Luckily, there isn't a back-to-back pair of games until Feb. 26-27, which means Subban has about three weeks to recover.

Hopefully Marc-Andre Fleury can shoulder the load without getting hurt himself. While Lagace wasn't awful the first time around (.872 save percentage, 3.79 goals against average in 14 games with a 6-6-1 record) there were three goaltenders ahead of him for a reason.

The Knights return to action — with Fleury in net — against the Philadelphia Flyers Sunday evening.
