Marc-Andre Fleury named NHL’s second star of the week

Just about every Vegas Golden Knights fan knew they were in for a treat when the team claimed Marc-Andre Fleury in the expansion draft. We’re now two games into the regular season and he’s done nothing but confirm that notion.

After carrying the Golden Knights to a hot 2-0 start (on a back-to-back, mind you), Flower has a .973 save percentage and a 0.98 goals against average.

Monday, he was named the NHL’s second star of the week. And had it not been for Alex Ovechkin’s inhuman start to the season (seven goals in two games) Fleury likely would have been named the first star of the week.

As good as Fleury has been, it’s also impossible to ignore the impact that James Neal has made to start the season. After missing the entirety of the preseason while recovering from a broken hand suffered during the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Neal has scored three of the Golden Knights four goals, including this dandy of a game-winner against the Dallas Stars.

Holy mackerel. What a guy.

He may not have been named one of the three stars of the week, but he’s a star in our hearts.
