Golden Knights vs. Ducks: Open Game Thread and Preview

The Vegas Golden Knights are back in action tonight looking to bounce back after a 5-2 loss vs. the Boston Bruins. Things haven’t been going Vegas’ way as of late and the 30-21-4 (64 points) Golden Knights will take on the 26-21-9 (61 points) Anaheim Ducks in Anaheim. Both squads are 4-5-1 in their last 10 games played, although Anaheim is fresh off a 4-3 Tuesday victory over the Boston Bruins, the team that just defeated the Golden Knights.

Every game is an important one, but the Golden Knights really need to get back on the right track given their place in the standings. They currently sit fourth in the Pacific Division behind the Edmonton Oilers, Los Angeles Kings, and the Calgary Flames. They also hold the second wild card spot, although the Dallas Stars are a point behind with two games in hand, and the Ducks are three points behind having played in one more game.

Anaheim is a team that had very little expectations placed on them this season, which is the exact opposite of the Golden Knights. Vegas is currently missing players like Mark Stone, Max Pacioretty, Mattias Janmark, Alec Martinez, and they just got Jack Eichel back into the lineup, but still have the talent to get back on track. The Ducks would love nothing more than the opportunity to play a spoiler, and you can expect them to approach this game with a little extra spark.

With that said, here are the projected lines for both squads which are subject to change.
