Oscar Dansk signs two-year deal with Golden Knights

Oscar Dansk, the Golden Knights’ third-string goaltender and the Chicago Wolves’ starting goaltender, has signed a two-year deal. Dansk posted a .918 save percentage and 2.44 goals against average in 20 games in the AHL, along with a 1.78 goals against average and .946 save percentage in four games in the NHL.

The goaltender’s two-year deal is worth an average annual value of $675,000. That’s not half bad for a young goaltender like Dansk, and it keeps him in the system. At the end of his contract, Dansk will still be a restricted free agent as well. That means Vegas will find it that much easier to keep him around, if they deem it necessary.

Dansk won the AHL’s Goaltender of the Month in March and helped guide the Wolves to the division title. His ability to jump in and play for the Knights also helped during the season. Dansk got the first-ever shutout for the Knights, coming Oct. 27 against the Colorado Avalanche.

Dansk will likely serve in that third-string role again this season behind Marc-Andre Fleury and Malcolm Subban. So long as he stays healthy this season, the Golden Knights are in great hands in case of emergency.
