Vadim Shipachyov accepts assignment to Chicago Wolves while looking for trade

Vadim Shipachyov has accepted his demotion to the Chicago Wolves, according to a report from theScore.com. Shipachyov was demoted to the AHL after the Vegas Golden Knights brought Jonathan Marchessault off of injured reserve. Alex Tuch, who was called up at the same time as Shipachyov, has earned a longer look.

Shipachyov and his agent will continue looking for a trade partner while the Russian center plays in Chicago. The presumed hope is that his play will entice an NHL team more than it did with the Golden Knights. He played under 11 minutes a game in Vegas, and scored one goal in three games.

In the meantime, Shipachyov will look to improve a Wolves team that could use his services. The team has seen a lot of turnover over the past week, but the most recent acquisition will be a welcome one. Shipachyov will likely see top line minutes, playing with Teemu Pulkkinen and either Paul Thompson or Ivan Barbashev, the latter in the St. Louis Blues system.

Shipachyov should also be a prominent member of the power play, likely serving as the prime playmaker. Should he set the AHL on fire, his value should trend upwards and make him a more attractive option for several teams.

This is, of course, if he does indeed show up.
