Golden Knights 2021-22 schedule released

Knock on wood: An 82-game season is back in the NHL.

The Vegas Golden Knights will be one of the names on the opening night marquee.

The Golden Knights will begin their fifth season on Oct. 12 against the Seattle Kraken, announced Wednesday during the expansion draft but confirmed Thursday via the league’s schedule unveiling.

The matchup will be the nightcap of a double-header as the NHL returns to ESPN. The Tampa Bay Lightning will begin their second consecutive Stanley Cup defense by hosting the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Times and full national TV schedules will be announced at a later date. Turner Sports announced the Golden Knights’ meeting with the St. Louis Blues on Oct. 20 will be part of a doubleheader on TNT.

The Golden Knights will play four of their first five at home to begin the season; they will visit the Los Angeles Kings for their home opener at Staples Center on Oct. 14.

The Golden Knights will have a three-game homestand in between Christmas, featuring their first matchup with the Lightning on Dec. 21.

Vegas’ first rematch with the Montreal Canadiens will be Nov. 6 at Bell Centre.

T-Mobile Arena will play host to the NHL All-Star Game on Feb. 4-5. If there is an Olympic Break to be had, it will be following the mid-season festivities. The season would resume Feb. 25 at the Arizona Coyotes. If no deal between the NHL and NHL Players’ Association on the Olympics is made, there will be a revised schedule.
