Golden Knights home opener set for Oct. 2 against Sharks

The Vegas Golden Knights don’t have to wait long to play a meaningful hockey game against the San Jose Sharks.

After a heartbreaking Game 7 loss to the Sharks in the playoffs, the Golden Knights will have a chance to get some revenge in their first contest of the 2019-20 season. Vegas will open the season in T-Mobile Arena against the Sharks on Oct. 2.

In correspondence with that, the Sharks will play their home opener at SAP Center on Oct. 4 … against the Golden Knights.

Who the hell came up with this schedule?

Vegas’ seven-game war against San Jose was one of the wildest playoff series in recent memory. Not only was the on-ice play a ton of fun to watch, but the off-ice storylines were equally as entertaining. From Evander Kane calling Ryan Reaves “The Muffin Man” to Gerard Gallant calling Sharks head coach Peter DeBoer a clown, it was pretty clear that neither team are all that fond of each other.

After the way the Knights’ 2018-19 season ended, it wouldn’t be crazy to prepare for a fair amount of fireworks in the home opener.

The Golden Knights’ full regular-season schedule will be released on Tuesday, June 25.
