The Vegas Golden Knights extended their winning streak to five games as they topped the Florida Panthers 5-3 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday night.
The Golden Knights entered the third period against the Panthers with a 3-2 lead, and despite a 19-6 shot total in that final period, hung on to win the game. In large part, that was due to Marc-Andre Fleury, who made 18 saves in that period. He made 32 saves throughout the night on 35 shots, good for a .914 save percentage.
Gage Quinney was the first ever Nevada-born player to play in the NHL, drawing two penalties and playing nine minutes in the game.
Max Pacioretty tied former Knight Erik Haula for the second-best season in terms of goals scored with his 29th on the year. Former Panther Reilly Smith tied his career high, a feat he achieved with the foe across the ice in 2015-16, with 25 goals so far this year.
William Carrier and Tomas Nosek also each scored their seventh goal on the season.
The win moves Vegas into first place in the Pacific division, up two points on the Vancouver Canucks, although that team has two games in hand.
