Tomas Nosek in COVID-19 protocol, Golden Knights-Ducks game still a go Thursday

Vegas Golden Knights forward Tomas Nosek has tested positive for COVID-19 after a test surfaced during the team’s game Tuesday against the Anaheim Ducks.

Nosek did not play in the third period of Tuesday’s game, a 5-4 victory for Vegas to improve to 8-1-1 this season.

“Nosek was removed from Tuesday night’s game vs. Anaheim, in precise accordance with the terms of the League’s COVID Protocol,” the league said in a statement. “Nosek was immediately isolated from his teammates and close contact tracing was begun, also in accordance with the Protocol.”

The Golden Knights canceled their postgame media availability Tuesday due to COVID-19 protocol. As a result, Vegas canceled practice and media availability Wednesday.

Thursday’s rematch between Vegas and Anaheim is scheduled to go on as planned. The league announced both teams will undergo Rapid PCR Point of Care tests — for staff and players — prior to the game, as well as their daily testing. If a postponement comes about, the NHL, NHLPA and health officials for both teams will make the call beforehand.

Nosek was the only Vegas player to be in COVID protocol. No Ducks players were added at 2 p.m. PT.
