Zach Whitecloud week-to-week with upper-body injury

The Vegas Golden Knights will be without defenseman Zach Whitecloud, who is considered week-to-week with an upper-body injury.

Whitecloud left in the second period of Friday’s 5-3 loss to Edmonton after blocking a shot with his hand; he did not return.

Pete DeBoer confirmed Saturday that Daniil Miromanov will make his NHL debut tomorrow night against the New York Islanders in place of Whitecloud.

Whitecloud joins a growing list of injured Golden Knights skaters, including captain Mark Stone, winger Max Pacioretty and defenseman Alec Martinez.

The Knights are 1-3-0 to start the season and have lost three straight.

Miromanov, 24, skated with Brayden McNabb in yesterday’s practice. The 6-foot-4, 198-pound forward-turned-defenseman was recalled from the AHL Henderson Silver Knights on Wednesday following Martinez’s injury but did not draw into the lineup against the Oilers.

Vegas signed Miromanov to a one-year, entry-level contract back in March. He had an impressive preseason and has two goals and two assists in two games with Henderson so far this year.

The Knights close out a three-game homestand Sunday night against the Islanders before hitting the road for a back-to-back set against Colorado and Dallas on Tuesday and Wednesday.
