Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury has been missing in action for over a week now. Not only has the 34-year-old Vezina candidate been dealing with a (very minor) lower-body injury, but he’s also been anxiously awaiting the birth of his first son.
Well, that day has finally arrived. According to an Instagram post from Flower’s wife Veronique Fleury, James Fleury was born Friday at a healthy 9.3 pounds.
It’s still yet to be determined if James has started skating yet, but we will monitor the two-day-old phenom’s progression closely.
As for Marc-Andre, he will not be back in the lineup for Saturday night’s game against the Detroit Red Wings. Malcolm Subban will continue to man the crease in his absence. With baby watch over, though, it wouldn’t be surprising if Fleury joins the Knights on their upcoming two-game road trip. His next opportunity to play comes Monday against the St. Louis Blues.
