Bryce Harper shows support for Golden Knights with custom bat

While the Vegas Golden Knights continue to steal the hearts and minds of those in the hockey world, they’re still a homegrown operation in Sin City with some dedicated fans.

One of those fans is Washington Nationals superstar, and Las Vegas native, Bryce Harper.

Harper, who grew up in the 702 and played his college ball at the College of Southern Nevada, may not be able to make it to a Stanley Cup Playoff game any time soon because he’s too busy hitting home runs and playing in 162-game seasons.

That’s not stopping him from repping his hometown team. Harper, via his Instagram, has a Golden Knights logo on the knob of his bat.

“Supporting the boys from afar!” said Harper, the 2015 National League Most Valuable Player who has eight homers in 19 games for Washington this season.

We’re not entirely sure if Harper would trade playing some games in D.C. this spring for a few Golden Knights playoff games, but at least he’s showing off his love for his team while he’s away. Maybe the Nationals can make an exception if Vegas gets to the Stanley Cup Final.

First thing’s first: The Golden Knights have to play a couple more playoff series’ before that happens. That starts with the San Jose Sharks in the second round next week.
