Chicago Wolves forward Daniel Carr has won the Les Cunningham Award for the American Hockey League’s Most Valuable Player.
Carr, who scored 30 goals and 41 assists for 71 points this season, led the Wolves in all three categories. He and Chicago teammate T.J. Tynan finished tied for third in the AHL in scoring. Carr was eighth in goals.
Carr led the AHL in scoring on March 5. He missed the final 18 games of the regular season with an upper-body injury but is working his way back to the Wolves’ roster for the Calder Cup Playoffs.
Carr, 27, has played 191 career AHL games and has 161 points in that time span. He played six games with the Vegas Golden Knights this season, scoring one goal before being reassigned back to Chicago on Dec. 5.
Carr was signed by the Golden Knights in free agency from the Montreal Canadiens, with whom last season he scored 16 points in 38 games.
The Wolves return to playoff action tonight in Game 1 at 5 p.m. PT against the Grand Rapids Griffins.
