GAMEDAY THREAD 61/82: Vegas Golden Knights at Colorado Avalanche

The Golden Knights will look to carry over their strong play from Saturday’s convincing 5-1 win over the Nashville Predators as they take on the Avalanche tonight in Denver.

Vegas snapped a three-game losing streak and will look to build on that tonight at the Pepsi Center.

The Golden Knights will use the same lineup tonight that worked so well against Nashville, which saw Brandon Pirri and Max Pacioretty switch places. Update: William Carrier will not play tonight; Tomas Nosek will take his place on the fourth line.

Vegas will take on an Avalanche team that has gone 1-4-3 in eight games in January yet still remains just three points out of a wildcard spot in the Western Conference. Colorado’s top line of Gabriel Landeskog, Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen has combined for 209 points this season, but the line hasn’t been nearly as productive in recent games. Vegas will have to keep it that way if the Knights want to come out of this with two points.

Here are the projected lineups for both clubs:

Golden Knights
Marchessault — Karlsson — Smith
Pirri — Stastny — Tuch
Pacioretty — Eakin — Lindberg
Nosek — Bellemare — Reaves

McNabb — Theodore
Engelland — Schmidt
Merrill — Miller

Subban
Fleury

Avalanche
Landeskog (#92) — MacKinnon (#29) — Rantanen (#96)
Kerfoot (#13) — Jost (#17) — Compher (#37)
Nieto (#83) — Soderberg (#34) — Calvert (#11)
Aggozino (#26) — Toninato (#47) — Andrighetto (#10)

Girard (#49) — Johnson (#6)
Graves (#27) — Barrie (#4)
Zadorov (#16) — Nemeth (#12)

Varlamov (#1)
Grubauer (#31)
