GAMEDAY THREAD — Game 2: Vegas Golden Knights at San Jose Sharks

Tonight is a big night for the Vegas Golden Knights. A loss would put the Knights in a 2-0 hole, whereas a win would reset the slate and give Vegas home-ice advantage in a best-of-five series that would shift to Vegas for Game 3 on Sunday.

Game 1 did not go according to plan, at least for the Knights. The San Jose Sharks completely outplayed Vegas, particularly as they gained a 4-1 lead through two periods in which Vegas managed just 10 shots on goal.

Tonight is a new night, but it’s a crucial one for Vegas. The No. 1 imperative for Vegas is to play with more discipline, though that’s easier said than done in a series that is already extremely chippy.

The news that Nikita Gusev will join the Knights this weekend is exciting, but Vegas has to take care of business tonight.

Update: Colin Miller will draw into the lineup for Nick Holden.

Here are the projected lineups for both clubs:

Golden Knights
Marchessault — Karlsson — Smith
Pacioretty — Stastny — Stone
Nosek — Eakin — Tuch
Carrier — Bellemare — Reaves

McNabb — Theodore
Schmidt — Engelland
Merrill — Miller

Sharks
Meier (#28) — Couture (#39) — Pavelski (#8)
Kane (#9) — Hertl (#48) — Nyquist (#14)
