Golden Knights activate Marc-Andre Fleury from IR, assign Maxime Lagace to AHL

After missing nearly two months of action, goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury is finally returning to the Vegas Golden Knights’ lineup, the team announced Sunday.

Fleury suffered a concussion in the Golden Knights’ Sept. 13 contest against the Detroit Red Wings. With a lengthy history of concussions, the Golden Knights took a conservative approach in getting the 33-year-old netminder back on the ice.

Since Fleury’s injury, the Golden Knights have gone 16-8-1 and remain in contention for the top spot in the Pacific Division.

To make room for Fleury on the roster, the Golden Knights assigned goaltender Maxime Lagace to their AHL affiliate Chicago Wolves. With Malcolm Subban and Oscar Dansk also going down with injuries earlier in the season, Lagace, 24, guided the Golden Knights to a 5-4-1 record in 10 starts before Subban reclaimed the starting duties against the Arizona Coyotes on Nov. 25.

With both Fleury and Subban now fully healthy, the Golden Knights will have both of their top goaltenders in the lineup for just the fifth time this season in Tuesday night’s contest against the Carolina Hurricanes.
