Howden’s deal will cost Vegas $1.9 million against the salary cap annually, which is up $400,000 from last season. Last season Howden was limited to just 54 games, and he posted a line of 6-7-13 while skating 13:04 a game.

In the playoffs he posted a line of 5-5-10 in 22 games played, and was used throughout the lineup in various roles. His most prominent role was as the second line left wing with Chandler Stephenson at center, and Mark Stone on right wing.

Howden struggled mightily toward the end of his tenure with the New York Rangers, and with the Golden Knights he’s shown signs of improvement. He turned 25 in March, and this contract will take him to UFA status upon completion.
