Golden Knights ink German goal scorer Brooks Macek
The Golden Knights roll the dice on a silver medal winner as they add the DEL’s top scorer to a one-year deal.
The Vegas Golden Knights have agreed to terms with the top goal scorer of Germany’s Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) Brooks Macek on a one-year, two-way contract.
Macek, 26, has played the last two seasons as a member of EHC München of the DEL, where he has amassed 43 goals and 71 points in 101 games, including 26 goals this past season to lead the league.
He continued his success into the playoffs where the former sixth-round pick of the Detroit Red Wings put up 15 points (8 G, 7 A) in 17 games en route to the team’s third straight league championship.
He will likely start the season on the Golden Knights AHL affiliate in Chicago but could see some time as an injury replacement for the big club should he prove his skills translate back to the North American game.
Vegas Golden Knights General Manager George McPhee announced today that the team has signed forward Brooks Macek. Macek signed a one-year contract worth an NHL average annual value of $650,000 and an American Hockey League Base Salary of $175,000.

According to Elite Prospects:
A skilled center with great on-ice vision, Macek is a very good skater. He competes hard and is a terrific playmaker. Excels on the powerplay.

Born in Winnipeg, MB, Macek holds dual citizenship in Canada and Germany, where his father was born, which allowed the forward to see action in the 2018 Olympics in South Korea for Germany. There, he helped lead his team to their surprising silver medal finish while scoring two goals and adding two assists in their seven games.
Prior to turning professional, Macek played in the Western Hockey League as a member of the Tri-City Americans and Calgary Hitmen.
