Golden Knights trade Marc Methot to Stars for a draft pick and prospect

The Vegas Golden Knights have traded defenseman Marc Methot to the Dallas Stars for a 2020 second-round pick and goalie prospect Dylan Ferguson, the team announced Monday.

TSN’s Bob McKenzie was the first to report.

Ferguson was drafted in the seventh round of this past weekend’s NHL Entry Draft. He played 31 games for the Kamloops Blazers of the WHL, posting a 2.74 goals against average and a .922 save percentage.

Methot was the Golden Knights selection off of the Ottawa Senators in the expansion draft. As Erik Karlsson’s primary defensive partner, he put up 12 points (all assists) in 68 games and four points (two goals, two assists) in the playoffs.

The 32-year-old defenseman has been linked to trade rumors since the Golden Knights selected him in the expansion draft, so this comes as no surprise. Whether or not Vegas got the best return for him remains to be seen. Ferguson, 18, becomes the third goalie Vegas has acquired via draft or trade since Saturday.
