Marc-Andre Fleury representing Golden Knights at NHL All-Star Game

Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury has been selected to the fourth All-Star Game of his NHL career, the League announced Wednesday.

Fleury makes his second consecutive appearance as a member of the Golden Knights. He was a participant in 2011 and 2015 with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The 34-year-old goaltender, who has risen to ninth all-time in wins this season (427), leads the NHL in wins (23), starts (37), minutes (2,198:24 — nearly 320 minutes more than fellow All-Star goaltender John Gibson), and shutouts (six).

All-Star Weekend takes place Jan. 25-26 at the SAP Center in San Jose.

Fleury has been working overtime past the halfway mark of this season. The Golden Knights have played the most games this season, with Fleury starting all but six of them. He also holds a 2.48 goals-against average and .912 save percentage.

It’s no secret Fleury has played a ton. Fortunately, the Golden Knights have been winning. But Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin made news Wednesday by deciding to skip on the All-Star Game and take the week off to rest instead. Jesse Granger of The Athletic reported Wednesday that Fleury has thought about skipping it, as well, but hasn’t made a decision.

Ovechkin will be suspended one game for missing the game, per the league, and the same will go for Fleury if that’s the case.

Along with Fleury’s selection, Vegas forward Jonathan Marchessault is the Golden Knights’ representative for the final fan vote. One player will be selected per each division.
