Today Shea Theodore underwent successful upper-body surgery, and the Vegas Golden Knights will be without one of their better defenders for the foreseeable future.

Theodore was having a pretty productive season thus far with a line of 4-14-18 in 20 games played, and was 1st among defenders and 4th overall on the team with a GAR rating of 4.5 via Evolving-Hockey. The Golden Knights’ rear guard last appeared on November 22nd against the Dallas Stars, and his presence in the lineup will certainly be missed.

Kaedan Korczak is taking his place in the lineup for the time being, and hopefully the rest of the defense corps can step up in Theodore’s absence. Vegas is in a bit of a tail spin, and the Golden Knights are 3-4-3 over the last 10 games. They sit atop the division with a 1 point lead over the Vancouver Canucks, and 3 ahead of the Los Angeles Kings who have played 4 fewer games than Vegas.
