David Perron agrees to 4-year contract with St. Louis Blues

One of the Golden Knights’ top point producers from last season is headed elsewhere.

According to a report from Elliotte Friedman, forward David Perron has signed a four-year, $16 million contract with the St. Louis Blues. This will be Perron’s third stint with the Blues — the team drafted him with the No. 26 overall pick of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

Perron’s departure is a bit of a head-scratcher. At the end of the season, Perron made it clear that he’d like to return to Vegas, revealing that he and the Knights had been in contract negotiations throughout the year. With Perron signing a bargain of a contract with St. Louis after the best statistical season of his career, it’s a bit peculiar that the 30-year-old could never come to an agreement with the Knights, who have a boatload of cap space to work with.
