Golden Knights Claim Grigori Denisenko Off Waivers

The Vegas Golden Knights have added a wrinkle to their roster situation by claiming forward Grigori Denisenko off waivers.

As pointed out by Jesse Granger of The Athletic, although Denisenko has had an underwhelming career to date, this feels like them trying to find lightning in a bottle once again.

The immediate question to ponder is what spot on the roster will he take? Max Comtois has been in camp on a PTO, and Paul Cotter and Pavel Dorofeyev are also competing for a spot. It wouldn’t make sense to risk losing someone like Dorofeyev for nothing, so I’d imagine he’s making the team. That would mean releasing Comtois from his PTO and then placing Cotter on waivers with the hope he clears as other teams look to finalize their rosters waiving their final cuts too.

There’s no guarantee any of this is going to happen, and I imagine we will find out the plan in the coming days. Stay tuned for more.
