Henderson City Council unanimously votes in favor of new Golden Knights hockey facility
A hockey facility is coming to Henderson.
It’s official. The Vegas Golden Knights’ proposed hockey facility in Henderson is happening.
The Henderson City Council unanimously approved the project Tuesday. The facility, which will be located on the corner of Water Street and Atlantic Avenue, is scheduled to be completed by July of 2020.
According to the official press release from the Golden Knights, the new facility will look somewhat similar City National Arena. It’ll have two NHL-sized rinks with a restaurant overlooking the ice. There will also be 5,000 square feet of meeting space.
Most importantly, though, it’ll be a new place to grow the game of hockey — youth and adult hockey leagues will be a major attractions, as will hockey and figure skating camps.
To be clear, the Golden Knights are not ditching City National Arena. The new facility’s main purpose is to promote the growth of hockey in the Las Vegas Valley.
It’s a big night in Henderson 😃
